and there's this new book
i think you'd like
because of how we both
believe in burying
hopes into the garden
and the narrator carries seeds
in their pocket at all times,
like you do
with your needle and thread
as if in the next second
a seam might tear open
like plastic bag groceries on the floor
like dinner ruined
and now all i have is soup
and an overdue library book
and maybe, if i'd told you i wanted to go
back to that pho place we both liked
we would be eating together instead
